Thank you for your interest in the Family and Consumer Sciences Department at Illinois State University.
Internal transfer applications are accepted from January 1 – February 21 for Fall semester and August 15 – September 21 for Spring semester.
If you are a prospective student, not currently enrolled at any college or university, and you are interested in the Family and Consumer Science major at ISU, there are lots of ways for you to learn more about ISU, our program, and how to apply.
If you wish to meet with someone in the Family and Consumer Sciences Department, please come to campus on an ISU open house day, and consider staying for the FCS Academic Presentation event that takes place from 1:00 - 2:00 PM on open house days.
The FCS Academic Advising office will represent the department at ISU open houses, and faculty members from the Family and Consumer Sciences department will be available to answer questions from prospective students and their families at each FCS Academic Presentation event.
If you are a current Illinois State University student interested in changing your major to FCS, you can do so through My Illinois State. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.50 to be eligible to apply to the FCS major.
Students will be notified about their applications before the start of advanced registration. Questions about the application process can be directed to the FCS academic advisor.
A large number of our current students are transfer students from other institutions. Students transferring from 2-year institutions are strongly encouraged to complete a baccalaureate-oriented associated degree (A.A. or A.S.) from a public community college or the Illinois Transferable General Education Core Curriculum, commonly referred to as IAI.
Please visit University College for detailed information concerning the Transfer Days Orientation Program.
