Competitions
The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences hosts an annual competition for our Fashion Design and Merchandising program for students interested in joining the major. Details for our 2023-2024 annual competition are now available below.
Scholarships awarded through these competitions are expected to be used for students beginning at ISU in Fall 2024. Students not beginning at ISU until Spring 2025 or Fall 2025 may request these scholarship funds be deferred until that time. Fashion Design Competition
Tap into your creative side and bring your style to life by submitting a design sketch or window display photo in a competition to be displayed at Illinois State University's Annual Fashion Show. The Fashion Design Competition provides students who are interested in working in the fashion industry with a chance to showcase their skills while showing off their originality, creativity, and visual voice.
Scholarships
The first 10 students in each category (high school and community college) to submit a design will receive a $1,000 scholarship to pursue Fashion Design and Merchandising at ISU.
The top design winners in each category (high school and community college) will receive:
- $200 in travel funds to attend the fashion show on Saturday, April 27, 2024
- Behind-the-scenes tour on day of event
- $4,000 scholarship to pursue Fashion Design and Merchandising at ISU
