The FCS teacher education program has a strong reputation of producing high-caliber teachers. It focuses on the fundamentals of teaching and prepares FCS teacher candidates in:

Consumer Education
Our program meets the Illinois teacher licensure requirements. Teacher candidates can get an Illinois teacher's license in a four or two-year degree program. Graduates are qualified to teach 5th through 12th grades in all areas of FCS. Endorsement options are also available.

FCS students have a strong community and support system. Our student organization, strong peer network, and faculty provide a sense of belonging. The program also has a strong alumni base.
There are many scholarships and opportunities for teaching assistantships. Most undergraduate teaching assistants are FCS teacher education students.
