Phyllis Memken Outstanding Teacher Award
This award was established to honor the life and commitment to teaching of Phyllis Ann Lochenvitz Memken, a lifelong resident of Bloomington, Illinois and public school teacher for 25 years. The award exists to honor and recognize faculty members in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences who have achieved excellence in teaching. The recipient has their name added to the plaque on display in the department and receives a $500 professional development award. Recipents of this award include:

Connie J. Ley Outstanding Researcher Award
This award was made possible by a generous gift from former Department Chairperson Dr. Connie Ley. FCS Faculty/Staff DEBI (Diversity, Equity, Belonging, and Inclusion) Award
This award recognizes outstanding efforts by a faculty or staff member in the Department of Family and Consumer Scineces who has gone above and beyond to lead diversity and inclusion intiatives within the department. The recipient has their name added to the plaque on display in the department and receives a $500 professional development award. Recipents of this award include:

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is committed to an environment of Diversity, Equity, Belongingness, and Inclusiveness (DEBI). We have two DEBI awards – one for faculty/staff and one for students.
We are seeking nominations for the 2024 awards.
Please click here to submit a nomination (self-nominations are welcome) for someone that you believe demonstrates outstanding effort and initiative towards diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion in FCS by January 31st. We will reach out to those nominated to provide additional information by February 15th. The FCS Scholarship and Awards Committee will review the applicants and select the recipients. Both award recipients will be announced at our FCS Awards Ceremony.

College of Applied Science and Technology (CAST) Awards
